chlebicky – (pronounced: chlebeechky)

In our food series this week a few words on the famous czech chlebicky!  The opened faced cold sandwiches with an astonisching artistically arranged topping like ham, salami, hard-boiled egg, lettuce, cheese, tomato, mayo, mustard, pickles and many more, spoils your tastebuds!!!!  Accompanied by a giant pot of tea with lemon and sugar makes the daily stress go away with every bite/sip you take.

A Libe, A Libe, A Liberec

Apparently the ‘Bili Tygri’ aka the White Tigers of Liberec have a new spectacular opening lasershow at the beginning their game at the fantastic TipSport Arena  . They ended 3rd in the O2 extraliga and are still in the running for the play-offs, playing the semi-finals as we speak agains Slavia Praha. Here’s their Hymna!

Old Liberec

I’ve been visiting Liberec now for the last 6 years almost every year.  I came across the ‘Stary Liberec’.  Great to see how the city centre was like in the early days.  Trams in front of the Town hall - nowadays you can only find 2 meters of this tramrails at the ‘Prazska’ road.

When I first visited Katerina’s hometown Liberec, my first glimps on the mountains surrounding the city and especially the skyline to the east was one that I would never forget.  The hotel and transmitter on the mountaintop jested is an historical building with a rich history designed by Karel Hubáček.  Whenever you have the chance to visit the Czech Republik, this region is definitely one to see!

Nazdravi

The house is filled with laughter.  Our czech roots are spiced up again with speedy czech conversations shooting from the kitchen to the livingroom.  Nothing feels better than knowing that family is close, and everything we do is nice, because we’re doing it together.  Perhaps one of these days we get some great schnitsels with potato salad!!! Probably my absolute favourite, and although my czech isn’t that great, we understand each other when it comes down to GOOD FOOD  ;-)
