I passed my second pair of MSc Modules!

JIIIIHAAAAAAAAA!
I couldn’t get better news today then from my favourite MSc programme leader Gloria.

Just to let you know that you have passed your current developments and tissue viability modules. You should be able to access the results on the QMU website. I will be in touch to discuss your next stage.

Well done!

Gloria

Now I have to start to figure out what i’m going to do next…  90 down, 30 more credits to go plus the project hurdle!  But before all that…he rested…and thus so will I!

Gonna try to get back on track

I’ve been neglecting my blog, but now that everything is cooling down a bit and the summer is knockin’ on the door I’m gettin’ back in the groove with the new Song of Bob and my main group aka The Sugar Hill Gang!

Again, for all the students out there: Hit the books and get in the groove with the LALA song

The use of Finite Element Foot Modeling

One of the second year modules in my MSc affaire, is Current Developments in Podiatry.  For this one I let myself completely go on the Finite Element Modeling and Analysis department…
Finite Element Foot Modeling or analysis is based on a numerical technique to compute or simulate a foot model subjected to a variety of (static/dynamic) loads.  The major problem in the use of this technique, lies in gathering appropriate knowledge of the real life structure and creating a reliable model trying not to introduce to many errors on one hand and capturing the geometrical complexity of the foot structure in order to precisely simulate the biomechanical behaviour of the human foot (CT scan / MRI) on the other.  The Center of Excellence for Limb Loss Prevention and Prosthetic Engineering has developed a first validated finite element model of a foot  consisting of 26 foot bones, a part of the tibia/fibula, 51 ligaments and cartilage and plantar soft tissue.

If this ain’t talent (part2)

The folowing was brought to my attention.
again putting me with both feet on the ground, sending shivers down my spine!
Amazing how you judge people from second one…and how much you can be mistaken…
Enjoy!

Stockholm part 2

After my first visit to Stockholm, our 5 week module is already in week 3 making this our second visit of 3.
This time we’re going to make basic root orthotics, combining this with a bit of background o biomechanical methodologies and extra clinical testing to make the visit worthwile.
It’s amazing how our Artevelde University College is cooperating with the Karolinska Institutet, Sweden.  Last time we were here, colleagues from creative therapy were here, and now, we have the pleasure of 2 colleagues of Audiology.
It looks like t’ s going to be again an intesive 3 days.  But i’ll keep you posted…

A taste of indulgence

Early birthday times for me and the missus.  One of our common splurges is the joy of a great cup of coffee…
We threw everything overboard, and bought ourselves a brand new Citiz. 16 different Grand Crus of the Nespresso family are a joy for the taste buds! The taste of a cup of coffee has never been so diverse.  Even our first ’crema’ production was just ecstatic!
Now it’s just sitting back, relax, and enjoy…

Last week, 7 brave students of the Karolinska Podiatry programme started our 5 week intensive orthotic course.  For this programme we will visit no less then 3 times the beautifull city of Stockholm, with the first visit being 1-3 of April.
In short, Early mornings, short nights, and a lot of teaching and fun!

El Dorado – For my dad

Gally Bedight,
a gallant knight,
in sunshine and in shadow,
had journeyed long,
singing a song,
in search of El Dorado.
Over the mountains of the moon,
Down the valley of the shadow,
Ride, Boldly Ride
